    CONDITION DESCRIPTIONS:
    MINT
Mint would be new in original packaging. The photo should reflect that item is in a package. If there is a grading of "MINT" without that packaging it is an error. Please call it to my attention.
    NEW EXCELLENT
No defects, stains or soiling observed; Patch appears to be new, but it may be a used takeoff with no evidence I can find of having been sewn.
    EXCELLENT FROM COLLECTION
May have stitch marks, staple holes or adhesive on the reverse side from a collector. These should not detract from the display-ability.
    EXCELLENT TAKE-OFF
Patch should reflect the above grade of "NEW EXCELLENT" with the exception of stitching marks and possibly some loose threads. I do not remove any loose threads.
    VERY GOOD
No defects noted; Not stained, may have negligible soiling visible; May have a minimal number of broken threads visible (insect photos carefully, and/or ask questions).
    GOOD
May have soiling and/or some staining. Display may be impacted by defects. Minor issues will be explained in General Description. Carefully look at all photos. Ask if you are unsure.
    OTHER
Condition will be explained in General Description Section.  Basically if this is a patch you don't have but want, this one can be a place-holder for the one you want to display. This patch's display will be affected by the defect(s) described.
    PATCH FRONT DESCRIPTION MEANINGS
    FELT
Part of all of patch is sewn on Felt or Wool, visible somewhere on front
    EMBROIDERED
Part or all of patch (not just wording) is sewn with a fine, tightly woven, shiny thread making it more esthetically pleasing
    TWILL
Typically a heavier thread used to form the patch foundation. Close inspection usually shows a tight pattern of diagonal rows
    BULLION
Has the use of metallic gold-tone and/or sliver-tone threads incorporated into the image and/or lettering.  Patch will be much thicker than normal and present much better in display than a patch without it having similar wear
    PATCH REVERSE DESCRIPTION MEANINGS
    CHEESECLOTH
A loose (+ - ⅛") weave of white vertical & horizontal threads in a criss cross pattern, having no Heat Seal or Plastic.
    CLOTH
Cloth backing, may be multicolored matching patch front colors, sometimes showing front image in reverse. It may be other colors, white, green or other not necessarily front colors.  No Heat Seal or Plastic
    PLASTIC SEAL
A plastic seal over back of patch making it stiffer & preventing threads from becoming unraveled
    HEAT SEAL or IRON ON
Uses a backing material designed to attach the patch through ironing. Most often appears as a thin plastic material
    PATCH EDGE DESCRIPTIONS
    MERROWED EDGE
The edge of the patch is stitched around the circumference over the edge.
    CUT EDGE
The edge of the base patch material is dye-cut. There is no stitching over the edges. The base material is seen at the edge, possibly with some loosening threads.
