    Description

1986 Honda Interceptor with just under 11k miles. (Recently broke my hand, so I am done riding this season.) 86 was the best year for the VF500F, and they did not have the issues of the larger displacement Honda V4s of the 80s.
The bike was stored by the previous owner, so I went through almost everything until I was happy with it - valve clearance adjustment, cleaned, adjusted and re-synchronized carbs, rebuilt clutch, brake calipers, etc. Newer tires with less than 1500 miles, AGM battery, x-ring chain. The bike starts and runs great. It is a blast to ride, it handles like it's on rails, and has 700cc power in 500cc displacement. It gets a lot of attention from bike nerds - people who remember it from their youth and people who love unique motorcycle engines. I am selling it because while I had my fun with it, I am more comfortable riding upright/cruiser style, and I want to move onto the next project.
The original windshield was cut down (rather poorly), so I replaced it with an aftermarket reproduction. New Renthal handlebar grips. The seat is a reupholstered Corbin seat which is a massive upgrade from the stock seat. The original seat can be included as well.
Is there anything wrong with it?
Mechanically there are no issues and its in perfect running order. The paint is in acceptable condition for being 35 years old, so you will notice some scratches, chips and normal wear when you get up close. The right side tank decal was replaced with a close replica but it is not a perfect size match. It is not a show bike, but a great daily rider. The fairings show some repair around a couple of mounting holes and touch up paint on the frame from contact with old brake fluid its past life.
I am unable to ship, so I ask you bring a trailer or arrange for shipping. Thank you.
